Blogs, chiffre clés et évolution

Dans une note intéressante, Cyril Fievet rapporte des informations intéressante au sujet de l'importance grandissante des blogs en nombre, mais surtout en poids vis à vis des autres médias.
Ainsi David Sifry, fondateur de Technorati, propose une vision de la blogosphère à l'heure actuelle. Cette vision n'est peut-être pas exhaustive, mais certainement la plus représentative au vu du nombre de blogs suivis : près de 4,3 millions de blogs aujourd'hui. Il faut noter que de nombreux blogs ne "ping" pas Technorati, c'est à dire ne préviennent pas le site de leur existence ou de leur mise à jour. En prenant en compte ce biais statistique, il est possible d'apprécier ces quelques données :

Les blogs ont acquis une audience de plus en plus importante et sont comparables aux plus grands sites médias.

Avec cet aperçu global de la blogosphère, on a une bonne connaissance de la taille de la blogosphère et sa récente accélération en terme croissance.
Enfin lisez aussi, l'évolution du nombre de posts par jour, soit l'intensité du blogging (action d'écrire une note sur un blog) sur l'année : on voit par exemple l'influence des conventions américaines comme sources de pics sur ce graphique, mais aussi l'apparition de "l'affaire Kryptonite", dont je parlais il y a peu, et sur lequel pointblog faisait un point ;)

(sauf erreur) Le premier schéma de cet article "Blogs vs Big Media" ne concerne pas l'audience des blogs, mais le nombre de liens qui font référence à des blogs : "les inbounds links". Ce qui veut dire :
Si l'on compare en terme d'audience (cf article publié dans Wired avec ce schéma), les plus gros Big Media (nyt, cnn, etc.) font près de 7 fois l'audience des plus gros blogs (slashdot, instapundit, etc.). En revanche, si l'on regarde le nombre de fois qu'un internaute recommande un article, il ne le fait que 2 fois plus vers un média que vers un blog.
En clair ? 7 fois moins puissants peut être, mais seulement 50% moins influents --> les big blogs gagnent plus vite en influence qu'ils ne gagnent en audience. C'est déjà super.

Effectivement, il s'agit bien d'une mesure de leur influence et non de leur audience. Ainsi relativement aux sites d'information majeurs, certains blogs sont de bien meilleurs vecteurs d'opinions.
